My journey from teen mum to geriatric mum

Blog

  • Welcome to my first blog post

I’m Rachel a new older/geriatric mum and in another lifetime a teen mum ( reason for my chosen blog name ‘oops mum did it again’ ) I live in the UK with my partner, two children and an anxiety cat.

My experience as a mum takes me back to the 90’s when I was a teenager and I welcomed my first born daughter. From being the youngest mum in the playground at school collection times, it often crossed my mind as a “joke” over the years that I may one day experience being one of the oldest mums in the playground. Turns out I seemed to have manifested this as in 2025 I welcomed my second daughter.

My daughters have an age gap of 25 years and whilst I was pregnant last year and having older mum worries, I searched and searched for big age gap siblings and apart from the odd article I couldn’t find any connections, so this has brought about my blog and starting a journey of our experience and adventures to be.

I have never written a blog, the only thing I write these days are lists – shopping lists, housework lists, remember to do task lists, holiday packing lists etc…. so as you can imagine creating this website from scratch is very testing on my elderly baby brain. I’ll be giving it a good go, getting lost in the website dashboard, tools and settings (help) it may take some time, however I’m looking forward to seeing where all our adventures take us 🙂
